Calcium Removal Services

Have you ever been relaxing by your pool or maybe grilling out in your outdoor kitchen and looked at your beautiful outdoor oasis only to notice a white, chalky build-up along the tile of your pool that’s not so appealing to the eye?

If the answer is yes, you’ve probably wondered: What is that stuff? How did it get there? Is this damaging to my pool? Can I get it off? Luckily for you, we have the answers to all of your questions, along with a solution to get rid of that unappealing build-up!

The white, chalky build-up that may appear on your tile or water features is called calcium build-up, sometimes referred to as calcium "scaling." Scale is the build-up of mineral compounds that produces a solution that often builds up around surfaces in or around a water system. Calcium scaling results from high pH or alkalinity levels, causing the calcium carbonate to separate from the water and stick to areas like your pool tile. It's essential to keep in mind that your pH and alkalinity levels should not be basic or alkaline. Once your pH and alkalinity levels do become basic or alkaline, calcium scaling may start to take place on your pool tile.

WHAT IS IT?

IS IT DAMAGING TO
MY POOL?

Calcium build-up (or scaling) obviously isn't very appealing to the eye. Although there is no need to panic when you first see it appear, it is vital to catch it in the earlier stages as it eventually can cause damage the longer it's left. If calcium build-up is ignored, it can cause damage to your pool and or pool equipment. Which, of course, we don't want. To prevent damage from occurring, we do have a solution and a few tips to help avoid further calcium buildup!

TIPS TO PREVENT
CALCIUM BUILD-UP

While the problem may be solved once the calcium build-up removal is completed, we do want to ensure you feel confident in preventing any future build-up. Here are a few tips to help in doing so:

Perform A Chemical Check

It will never hurt to check the chemicals in your pool! As we know, high pH and alkalinity levels cause that not-so-great chalky white build up. So, performing a chemical check on yoru pool not only helps you maintain correct chemical levels but also helps in ensuring you’ll be ahead of the game for the next time calcium may try to creep up on you!

Don’t forget! You don’t want your pH or alkalinity levels to become basic or alkaline!

Not sure how to perform a chemical check or don't feel very confident in doing so? Don't worry! With our weekly pool maintenance, our maintenance technicians check your pool chemicals for you each time they visit your home to ensure your pool is sparkling clean! Suppose you need to be signed up for weekly maintenance. In that case, you can browse this article about the benefits of weekly maintenance to see the benefits of weekly pool maintenance and call us at (972) 423-7178 to sign up today!

Regardless of your water chemistry or cleaning process, calcium is a reality. Texas is known for having hard water, which contains high levels of calcium and other minerals. When water evaporates on the pool tiles, it leaves behind these minerals, leading to the formation of calcium deposits.

Now that we've broken down what a calcium build-up (or scaling) is and how to prevent or resolve the issue, we hope you feel more confident taking calcium build-up by storm! Remember to contact us if you already have a nasty calcium attack on your hands, and we will be happy to help perform a calcium build-up removal! If any further questions arise, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We're more than happy to help with all of your pool needs!
